SERVICE AT ABIDING SAVIOR
It is expected of all leaders at Abiding Savior Free Lutheran Church that they be individuals known for their Christian faith, life, and character. It is also expected that they build relationships within our community of faith through regular worship and attendance of congregational activities and events.


PRESIDENT: Serves one-year term, may run for additional terms with no limit. Time commitment: 4-6 hours per month.
Responsibilities:
  1. Conduct monthly church council meeting, prepare the agenda for the meetings (with input from the administrator).
  2. Attend monthly Deacons’ meeting. Attend committee meetings, as appropriate.
  3. Be available for questions or concerns from members or prospective members.
  4. Conduct the quarterly congregational meetings, including Annual Meeting in January.
  5. Call and conduct special congregational meetings, as necessary.


VICE-PRESIDENT: Serves one-year term, may run for additional terms with no limit (transition to Presidency is expected). Time commitment: 4-6 hrs / month.
Responsibilities:
  1. Preside at all council or other meetings in the absence of President.
  2. Attend all scheduled council and Congregational meetings. Attend monthly Trustee meeting. Participate as a voting member of the council.
  3. Work on or preside over special projects or committees, as assigned by the President and Council.
  4. Assist the President, Administrator, or Trustees as requested.
  5. Serve as the Chair of our Nominating Committee.


SECRETARY: Serves one-year term, may run for additional terms with no limit. Time commitment: 2-3 hours per month.
Responsibilities:
  1. Attend all scheduled council and congregational meetings. Participate as voting member of council.
  2. Keep accurate and timely minutes of council meetings, quarterly and annual congregational meetings and other special meetings.
  3. Preserve records of church.


TREASURER: Serves one-year term, may run for additional terms with no limit. Time commitment: 6-8 hours per month.
Responsibilities:
  1. Attend all scheduled council and congregational meetings.
  2. Oversee all dual control procedures.
  3. Maintain accurate and current records of church finances.
  4. Assist church finance office as needed.
  5. Advise church council in projecting abilities to fund proposed projects.


DEACON: Serves three-year term, can serve no more than two consecutive terms. Time commitment: 6-8 hours per month.
Responsibilities:
  1. Attend all scheduled council and congregational meetings. Participate as a voting member of council.
  2. In absence of Pastor, lead congregation in worship, or through some other means ensure that worship, teaching, and preaching is conducted in accordance with the standards of our congregation and are in agreement with the Scripture.
  3. Assist as requested in the spiritual care and growth of the congregation.
  4. They shall be responsible for the distribution of Communion on a monthly basis; and as requested by the pastoral staff assist in visitations.


TRUSTEE: Serves three-year term, can serve no more than two consecutive terms. Time commitment: 6-8 hours per month.

Responsibilities:
  1. Attend all scheduled council and congregational meetings.
  2. Responsible for the physical maintenance, care and use of the church facility and grounds, according to guidelines established in the church Constitution.
  3. Responsible for holding deeds and other valuable documents pertaining to the church property.
  4. Supervise the collection of offerings and other funds; payment of expenses together with the Treasurer and full Council.
